Mauricio Pochettino: This is the central figure and will attract immediate interest
After Mauricio Pochettino’s time with the Blues got off to an uneven start, Fulham head coach Marco Silva says Chelsea needs to be patient with the manager. If Fulham wins at Stamford Bridge on Saturday, they would fall one point behind their opponents in 10th position in west London; nevertheless, Silva claims that the Blues’ on-and off-field improvements are helping them improve.
Regarding if Pochettino requires tolerance, Silva remarked: “Obviously, when a football team undergoes a lot of change within itself. From the outside, it appears that the changes have taken place, and their manager has extensive knowledge of the Premier League.
“I believe his past accomplishments in his career speak for themselves.”I also hold him in the highest regard. We connect well and have a great relationship. It will undoubtedly be a very difficult game for us because they have a very excellent team and manager.”
After scoring in the 2-1 victory at home against the Blues the previous season, Brazil’s Willian, a winger, will make his way back to the pitch where he spent seven years on Saturday. “The connection between him and the club (Chelsea) is huge,” Silva stated.
“For him and the fans, it is enormous. We sensed it the previous season when he was replaced and received a standing ovation. They have a great deal of respect for him, which is well-deserved given that what he’s accomplished in our club at the age of 35 begs the question of what he could accomplish at the age of 37 or 38.
