According to Space, NASA’s Perseverance Rover captured a photo of the wrecked Ingenuity Mars helicopter laying still on the planet’s sandy mound.A little more than two weeks after it suffered damage that ended its mission, on February 4, 2024, at 1:05 p.m. local mean solar time, the picture was shot.

The helicopter that had accomplished the first powered flight on a different planet came to an end during its three-year mission on Mars due to damage to its rotor. The expedition was terminated because the copter could no longer fly. However, the damage to Ingenuity’s blades is being investigated by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL).

The Perseverance rover and Ingenuity touched down on February 18, 2021. When Ingenuity took to the Martian sky in April 2021, history was created.Ever since, the Ingenuity-Perseverance team has been investigating the Jezero Crater, discovering indications of water reserves that may have once sustained life on the Red Planet billions of years ago.

Teddy Tzanetos, JPL’s Ingenuity Project Manager, referred to it as a “mission of a lifetime” and added, “We couldn’t be prouder or happier with how our little baby has done.”Another drone being built by NASA is called Dragonfly, and it will be launched by 2028 and fueled by nuclear energy. Its purpose is to explore Titan, the largest moon of Saturn.
