Matchday 2: Tuneros vs. Pumas, Necaxa visiting Puebla

With a tripleheader today, the second weekend of the new Liga MX season gets underway, but the finest match of Matchday 2 is scheduled for Sunday night.

There will only be eight games this weekend due to Pachamuca’s decision to postpone their matchup with León in favour of a friendly versus River Plate that is set for this Saturday in Fresco, Texas.

As one of the last games to be held at the Colosseo de Santa Úrsula before it receives a significant refurbishment ahead of the 2026 World Cup, holders América will also host its season opener in Estadio Azteca.

Necaxa makes a trip to Puebla to open the eight-game weekend schedule, with the Rayos still buzzing from their incredible comeback triumph over Atlas on Sunday.

“Los Electricistas” are keen to demonstrate that they are a different team from the one that finished last season at the bottom of the Liga MX standings.
